
Today, the Cafe Flora was officially opened at the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory.

Rebrand brings operations in-house with emphasis on local flavors & goodsFort Wayne, Indiana (October 30, 2025) – Today Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Director Steve McDaniel, Deputy Director of Planning and Landscape Chad Shaw, Superintendent of Park Planning, Development & Botanical Conservatory Stacy Haviland and Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory Manager Nate Cardelli cut the ribbon to officially open the transformed Café Flora at the Conservatory.
The cafe will offer coffees, teas and specialty beverages alongside convenient grab-and-go options, light fare and locally inspired treats.
“We’re thrilled to welcome guests to Cafe Flora, a vibrant space designed to enhance the Botanical Conservatory experience,” said Director Steve McDaniel. “With more open space, expanded seating and a focus on local products, Cafe Flora invites visitors to relax and connect with nature. By aligning our hours with the Conservatory, we’re making it even easier for the community to enjoy both exceptional food and the beauty of the gardens.”
“Cafe Flora reflects our commitment to community and sustainability,” said Deputy Director of Planning & Landscape Chad Shaw. “It’s an example of stewarding our spaces, resources and the experiences we create for the public. We’re proud of this transformation and excited for what it brings to the Conservatory and our guests.”
“This new Cafe is a natural extension of our work in planning and directing the Conservatory’s operations and programs,” said Superintendent of Park Planning, Development & Botanical Conservatory Stacy Haviland. “By integrating this space with the gift shop, we provide more opportunities for guests to engage with our gardens while enjoying a welcoming environment.”
“Café Flora gives us a chance to celebrate local flavors and products that are uniquely Fort Wayne,” said Conservatory Manager Nate Cardelli. “Our team is excited to bring the café in-house and create a stronger connection between Café Flora and the Conservatory—so every visit feels seamless, welcoming and rooted in the community we serve.”
The cafe will open during regular public hours at the Conservatory, which include Tuesday-Friday: 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Saturdays: 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Sundays: 12:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. and will be closed on Mondays. The café will also be open on Thursday evenings from 5:00-8:00 p.m. during $1 night Thursdays. For more information about Café Flora, visit www.botanicalconservatory.org
