
On September 21, 2025, at 1748 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a vehicle accident with injury on Clinton Street at East Baker Street in front of the U.S. Post Office.

Details/Summary:
The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a vehicle crash with injury on Clinton St at E. Bater Street in front of the U.S. Post Office at 5:48pm. Officers arrived and discovered that the crash involved an male adult in a wheelchair. The wheelchair victim was in critical condition and officer started life saving measures. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The FWPD Fatal Accident Crash Team and Air Support Unit was requested to investigate the crash. The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with investigators. At this time police know that it was raining heavily, and the wheelchair was crossing Clinton when he was struck.
Investigators are searching the area for video evidence of the crash. While Clinton Street was completely closed for almost two hours, the roadway is now open.
This crash remains under investigation by the FWPD Fatal Accident Crash Team, Air Support Unit, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
