
On January 1, 2019, at 0418 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in the 1300 block of Taylor Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Under Control: 0503 hours
Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire and smoke coming from the rear of the home. One adult female had been rescued by a pedestrian who had noticed the fire and approached the home to investigate. He broke out a first floor window and pulled her through to safety prior to FWFD arrival.
Firefighters were alerted to a possible second victim on the second-floor and made an aggressive search to locate a 6-year old child. The child was quickly found and transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Crews continued to fight the fire and searched for other victims that might have been in the home while dealing with a down power line in the rear of the home. The fire was under control within 40 minutes.
