
On April 29, 2020, at 1807 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department was called to the Lowe’s at 4430 Illinois Road for a reported active shooter inside.

Details/Summary:
Officers were called Lowe’s at 4430 Illinois Rd for a reported active shooter inside. Upon arrival they were told there was man wielding an axe inside the store. When they got inside officers found the suspect was being held down by employees and customers. They took the subject into custody then cleared the store in case there were others involved. No one was found and other persons were believed to be involved.
Witnesses stated the suspect came into the store and grabbed an axe. It was quickly taken away by someone in the store. The suspect grabbed another axe and did cause injuries to some people in the store. There were four victims injured. Those injuries were reported to be minor. It is unclear where the gun shots came in as no evidence of shots being was found by Officers. Many witnesses also stated there were no shots.
Preliminary charges for Harless are battery, criminal recklessness and aggravated battery.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
