97.5 WELT Radio Tips Off Another Season of Purdue Fort Wayne Women’s Basketball

Fort Wayne, Indiana (October 27, 2026) – 95.7 WELT radio at the Allen County Public Library is bringing back live Mastodon basketball this season. Broadcaster Derek Decker returns to call Purdue Fort Wayne women’s basketball home games, offering listeners play-by-play action, interviews with players and coaches, and postgame wrap-ups.

Decker said: “Last year, we brought Mastodon women’s basketball to life on local radio for the first time in more than a decade. I’m honored to once again help tell the story of a team with a long history and a terrific fanbase in the Summit City.”

The next broadcast of the season is on Monday, November 2, featuring Purdue Fort Wayne vs. Xavier. 95.7 WELT’s live coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. with tipoff at 7 p.m. Game broadcasts will preempt regularly scheduled programming.

“Mastodon basketball is a natural fit for community radio,” said ACPL’s Access Fort Wayne Manager John O’Rourke. “Our listeners care about what’s happening in Fort Wayne, and we’re proud to bring them every game from the home court.”

95.7 WELT, which stands for “We Encourage Local Talent,” is a non-commercial, community-driven, low power radio station through which volunteer producers create shows around the music and topics they care about. The weekly lineup includes classic rock, classic country, smooth jazz, 1960s and 1970s pop, and more, along with talk programs, interviews, and live performances by local musicians.

“WELT is one of the ways we try to make sure everyone belongs at the library,” said O’Rourke. “And because WELT allows the patrons to produce broadcasts in their own voices, the station has a sound that reflects Fort Wayne itself. And here in Fort Wayne, we love our ‘Dons, so I’m really pleased we can offer this access to the community!”

The station’s programming is produced at the Main Library and is the only radio station in the United States owned by a public library. The station celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier this year and continues to engage new producers every month. Anyone in the community can apply to go on the air.

PFW fans can tune in to 95.7 FM WELT or stream live at acpl.info/welt. Fans can find the team’s full schedule, news, and roster at gomastodons.com/sports/womens-basketball.
