Padres’ 2025 14th-Round Pick Earns Honor as One of Two RelieversFort Wayne, Indiana (Septemner 16, 2026) – Minor League Baseball announced Wednesday Fort Wayne TinCaps right-handed pitcher Clay Edmondson as a 2026 High-A Midwest League All-Star.
Across 23 appearances with Fort Wayne, Edmondson led the Midwest League and ranked second in all of Minor League Baseball with 11 saves. The sidewinder pitched to a 1.67 ERA across 27.0 innings pitched, striking out 38 batters and keeping opponents to a .134 batting average against.
Despite not playing with Fort Wayne for the final 61 games of the season, Edmondson still ended the season second in the Midwest League and third in High-A in saves.
At the time of his promotion on June 23, Edmondson ranked second in the Midwest League in ERA among relievers with as many innings pitched. The Greensboro, North Carolina native allowed one earned run across his first 18 outings, spanning 22 innings. In May, the former 14th-round pick did not allow a run across 11 1/3 innings pitched, striking out 20 batters and earning a save in seven of nine appearances.
Edmondson is one of two Midwest League relievers to earn the honor alongside South Bend’s Jackson Brockett. This is the second consecutive year a Fort Wayne reliever has earned the honor, with Garrett Hawkins being named an All-Star in 2025. Edmondson, alongside Hawkins and Miguel Menduez (2025), is the only TinCaps pitcher named a Midwest League All-Star since the league moved to High-A in 2021.
