Honor Flight Northeast Indiana Celebrates 58th Flight
Honor Flight Northeast Indiana (HFNEI) will conduct its 58th flight to Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.Fort Wayne, Indiana (September 14, 2026) – Honor Flight Northeast Indiana has safely transported 4,493 veterans to Washington, D.C., providing them with the opportunity to visit the memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifice. For the upcoming 58th flight, 86 veterans are confirmed to participate: 1 from the Korean War, 2 from the Cold War, 82 from the Vietnam War, and 1 who served during Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
Among these honored veterans are 5 Bronze Star recipients, 1 with 2 Oak Leaf clusters, 4 Purple Heart recipients, and one veteran awarded the Medal of Valor.
HFNEI President Cathy Berkshire said, “We are so excited to take our 58th Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. and honor another 86 of our most deserving Veteran Heroes. We are grateful to the communities throughout Fort Wayne, Northeast Indiana, and Northwest Ohio for their continued support and for helping us fulfill our mission.”
Welcome Home Celebration:
Honor Flight Northeast Indiana invites the public to join the Welcome Home Celebration as the veterans return from Washington, D.C. “We invite everyone to join us at the airport to welcome these heroes’ home,” Berkshire said. “Please plan to arrive around 8:30 p.m. You are welcome to bring a folding or camp chair to use while waiting for our return.” The public may park in the long-term parking lot at Fort Wayne International Airport for the Welcome Home Celebration.Honor Flight Northeast Indiana, Inc. is a volunteer-run, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.
