Ocopio Hits First High-A Homer in Loss
Lansing, Michigan (September 3, 2026) – The Fort Wayne TinCaps struck first but allowed eight unanswered runs in their 8-2 loss against the Lansing Lugnuts (Athletics affiliate) on Thursday.
Fort Wayne (53-74, 26-35) got their two runs on one swing from first baseman Yoiber Ocopio. It was the first round-tripper for Ocopio in his 14th High-A ballgame, and it came with one out in the second inning. Thursday was also his first multi-RBI game in the Midwest League since making his debut on August 5.
Lansing (56-70, 27-35) sent eight batters to the dish in the third and fourth frames and scored five runs in the stretch. Left fielder Jake Reinisch plated a pair in the third frame on his two-run double, and would later drive in one more on a single in the seventh. Reinisch reached base safely in four of his five plate appearances and has now reached base in his last 42 games.
Right fielder Rodney Green Jr. collected his fourth three-hit game of the season in the win. Three of those performances have come at home, with his only three-hit effort on the road occurring on May 9 against South Bend.
