Fort Wayne Police Department news release:

Fort Wayne, Indiana (September 1, 2026) – The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) is pleased to announce the hiring of Ethan Dahlen as the department’s new strategic communications manager.

As the community continues to grow, the department has brought in a communications expert to handle its relationship with the people of Fort Wayne and the city’s media outlets.

“Transparency has become an important part of Law enforcement communication.” said FWPD Director of Strategic Communications Jonathan Cutler. “Ethan’s experience in local news media will position him well to share with the community what their Fort Wayne Police Department is doing.”

Dahlen brings nearly half a decade of experience as an award-winning journalist at WANE 15. He will expand the department’s transparency and reach across all media.

“Our officers are incredibly talented at keeping people safe, and our homicide clearance rate stands as the gold standard in policing, but what they don’t have is formal training in video production, photo editing, or storytelling,” Dahlen said. “My job is to help create transparency and share the stories of the men and women who make Fort Wayne a safe place.”

The department is excited to begin a new era of sharing what goes into making the city a safer place through police work.
