Celebrating 94 Years With A 1930s Ford Model A Car Show
Fort Wayne, Indiana (August 31, 2026) – One of Fort Wayne’s favorite newspapers, The Waynedale News is celebrating 94 years of local news and community connection by turning back the clock to the decade when it all began.
The public is invited to join the newspaper on Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 1 to 3 p.m. at The Waynedale News office, 2505 Lower Huntington Rd. Fort Wayne, IN 46809, for a special 1930s Car Show featuring historic vehicles from The Old Fort Model A Car Club.
The free, family-friendly event will give visitors an opportunity to take a closer look at beautifully preserved automobiles from the era, meet their owners, and learn more about the automotive technology of the 1930s. Club members will also share insight into the restoration, maintenance, and preservation required to keep the historic vehicles on the road.
Guests are encouraged to bring the family, take photos, visit with participants, and enjoy a trip back in time as part of the newspaper’s 94th anniversary celebration. Event parking will be available across the street, courtesy of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church.
The theme pays tribute to The Waynedale News’ humble beginnings. The newspaper first began publishing in 1932, when Waynedale was a small community located about a mile outside the City of Fort Wayne.
During the 94 years since, both the community and the newspaper have changed considerably. The Waynedale News has grown into one of the area’s most-read community publications, serving a large readership throughout south, southwest, and downtown Fort Wayne.
Despite that growth, the newspaper has remained focused on its original community mission. The Old Fort Model A Club is dedicated to preserving, restoring and enjoying the Ford Model A and the automotive heritage of 1928-1931. Chartered in 1984, the club has grown from 13 families to 60 member families in 2026 and is affiliated with the Model A Restorers Club.Through tours, car shows, parades, community visits, and other activities, members share their knowledge and appreciation of the Model A while promoting fellowship and helping preserve these historic vehicles for future generations.
