On August 27, 2026, at 0022 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in the 4000 block of Oliver Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a small residential house which was heavily engulfed in flames on the first-floor. Firefighters swiftly deployed two handlines and commenced an attack on the fire. A thorough search of the home confirmed that no additional occupants were inside. The fire was under control within 20 minutes of dispatch.
Thanks to a working smoke detector, the occupants were alerted to the fire in the early morning and successfully self-evacuated the premises without incident. However, one adult at the scene experienced smoke inhalation and received immediate treatment before being transported to the hospital.
The cause of the fire has been determined as accidental with unattended cooking as the reason.
