County of Allen Indiana news release:

Allen County is Storm Ready

Fort Wayne, Indiana (August 19, 2026) – Today, Allen County was recertified as StormReady® – a designation the county will hold for the next four years – by Warning Coordination Meteorologist Dustin Norman of the US National Weather Service Northern Indiana.

Chris Fleischer, Allen County Office of Emergency Management Planning Coordinator, shared:

“StormReady recognition means Allen County has the planning, training, communication systems, and coordination in place to receive, communicate, and act on critical weather information when it matters most. For a county with the size and complexity of ours, our surrounding communities, major transportation corridors, schools, healthcare facilities, and public venues, that capability is essential to keeping people safe.

This recognition reflects the ongoing work of many partners. Our relationship with the National Weather Service, along with strong coordination among public safety, schools, local government, communications partners, and other organizations, is what allows critical information to move quickly from forecast to informed decision. Those partnerships are what make Allen County prepared, ready, and resilient.”
