Fort Wayne Gives Up Franchise Record Seven Home Runs in Loss
Fort Wayne, Indiana (August 5, 2026) – The Fort Wayne TinCaps fell behind early and could not catch up in Wednesday night’s 11-1 loss at Parkview Field to the West Michigan Whitecaps (Tigers affiliate).
Fort Wayne (45-57, 18-18) was led offensively by left fielder Ryan Wideman (No. 4 Padres prospect). Wideman went 3-for-4 and drove in the lone run of the game for the ‘Caps with an RBI single in the third inning. The former Western Kentucky Hilltopper has six three-hit games with Fort Wayne since joining the team on June 23 and has a hit in 10 of his last 12 showings.
West Michigan (45-57, 21-17) clobbered a club record seven home runs in the Wednesday night victory. It is also the most home runs Fort Wayne has allowed in a game since at least 2005. Left fielder Cristian Santana led the charge with three homers in as many plate appearances. It’s the second three-home-run game recorded at Parkview Field this season, with former TinCap Jake Cunningham having the other against Lake County on June 5. Santana tied a franchise record, matching Josue Briceno’s three-homer game last season.
Shortstop Bryce Rainer (No. 35 MLB/No. 3 Tigers prospect), center fielder Jackson Strong, second baseman Juan Hernandez and designated hitter Luke Shliger launched the other four home runs for the Whitecaps.
