Allen County Leaders Launch “Community Conversations” to Connect with Residents
Allen County, Indiana (July 31, 2026) – Allen County residents are invited to take part in a new series of Community Conversations, a month-long initiative designed to bring county government directly into the communities it serves.
Each Tuesday evening in August, Allen County elected officials and department leaders will host open house-style gatherings at locations throughout the county. These informal events provide residents with an opportunity to ask questions, share concerns, exchange ideas, and learn more about the services and initiatives that impact their daily lives.
“Community Conversations is about meeting people where they are,” said Commissioner Ron Turpin. “We want residents to know their voices matter. Whether someone has a specific concern, wants to learn more about county government, or simply wants to introduce themselves, we hope they’ll stop by and join the conversation.”
The events are free and open to the public. Doors open at 5:30 PM. Commissioner Turpin will share a brief presentation on growth in Allen County at 5:45 PM. And then an open house will allow attendees to speak directly with county leaders in a relaxed, conversational setting.
Over 20 different county departments committed to making several of the events, creating a unique opportunity for residents to interact with a variety of local government services. Some of the departments include the following:
- Allen County Recorder
- Allen County Department of Environmental Management (ACDEM)
- Allen County Community Corrections
- Allen County Assessor’s Office
- Allen County Coroner
- Allen County Highway Department
- Allen County Department of Planning Services (DPS)
- Allen County Department of Health
- Allen County Building Department
- Allen County Parks
- Allen County Election Board
- Emergency Management (formerly Homeland Security)
- Allen County Fire & EMS District – ACFD
- Northeastern Indiana Regional Coordinating Council (NIRCC)
- Allen County Human Resources
- IT/GIS/Permitting
- Allen County Redevelopment
- Allen County Voter Registration
Community Conversations reflects Allen County’s commitment to transparency, accessibility, and meaningful public engagement. By bringing elected officials and department leaders into neighborhoods across the county, it will be convenient for residents to connect with local government, ask questions, and give input to the future of Allen County.
