FWFD District Chief Michael Rager, EOW: March 22nd, 1972, Badge # 74The annual Michael Rager-Kenneth Stiverson (Fire/Police) Memorial Softball Game is a charity event hosted by Guns N Hoses and sponsored by Ziano’s Italian Eatery. The game was established in 1974 to honor the name sakes who died in the line of duty serving the citizens of Fort Wayne.
The free, family-friendly, event is held each year to determine bragging rights between the two departments. The teams have decided to donate the proceeds from this event to Fort Wayne Fire Private Keith Roddy (Fire Station 4) who is fighting stage 4 colon cancer. Keith began his public service with FWFD on December 15th, 2006. Donations to the Roddy family can be made on our gunsnhosesfw.org.
The evening ceremonies begin at 630pm with Honor Guard, National Anthem, presentation of players, prayer, and ceremonial first-pitch by a Rager and Stiverson family representative. The 9-inning softball game will start at 7pm at Turners, 3636 Parnell Ave. Turners will be providing access to their concessions and facility. The event will be emceed by local personalities Kenny Redmon and Jim Shovlin.
