Details/Summary:
On May 7th, 2026 the Fort Wayne Police Department received a complaint from the Internet Crime Complaint Center for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The nature of the complaint was the possession of child pornography. Detective Sergeant James Haupert of the Crimes Against Person Section (CAPS) was assigned to the investigation. During his investigation, Detective Sergeant Haupert identified the suspect as Brendan Donald Chivington, a Fort Wayne resident. On June 3rd, 2026 Detective Sergeant Haupert, along with additional members of the Crimes Against Persons Unit (CAPS), served a search warrant on Mr. Chivington’s residence. Several items of evidence were seized. Upon analyzing the evidence, child pornography was found on these devices. In addition, Detective Sergeant Haupert discovered during the investigation that Mr. Chivington had committed a violation and failed to register as a sex or violent offender. He was transported to the Allen County Jail for the below listed charges.
