Guests will be able to visit classrooms, explore historic photos and memorabilia, hear live music from the South Wayne Club O Orchestra from 2:30-3 p.m. and contribute stories to a digital scrapbook and oral history project preserving the school’s legacy. Attendees can also meet the filmmaker behind a short documentary about South Wayne’s history and share personal memories to be included in the project.

The event will also include commemorative giveaways while supplies last, opportunities to order a final South Wayne sweatshirt or keepsake brick and activities for families and alumni.

“After 103 years of serving the community, this is more than a goodbye. It is a chance for generations of South Wayne families to come together and celebrate the impact this school has had on our community,” said Brenda West, South Wayne Elementary Principal.

Fort Wayne Community Schools encourages anyone connected to South Wayne Elementary to attend and help honor the legacy of the South Wayne Eagles.
