The Allen County Coroner has identified Khiry Van Wilkens as the 1st Allen County Homicide in 2026 which occurred on January 24, 2026.
News release from the Allen County Coroner:
The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified, and made notifications to the next of kin of the deceased individual that was found in his vehicle south of the intersection of Pemberton Drive and East State Boulevard in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, at about 0547 hours, Saturday, January 24, 2026. He has been positively identified as Khiry Van Wilkens, male, Black, age 31 of Indianapolis, Indiana. The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash and found Khiry Van Wilkens unresponsive and suffering from a Gun Shot Wound. Three Rivers Ambulance Authority transported him to Parkview Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Khiry Van Wilkens’s Cause of Death is Gun Shot Wound, and the Manner of Death is Homicide.
Khiry Van Wilkens is the 1st Homicide for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2026.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
