Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades to Celebrate Jubilee Masses Throughout the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend Beginning Tonight

Fort Wayne, Indiana (August 13, 2025) – The late Pope Francis designated the 2025 Holy Year as a time to renew ourselves as “Pilgrims of Hope.” 2025 is the Jubilee Holy Year, the 2,025th anniversary of the Incarnation of Our Lord, a year of great significance in the life of the Church. In the papal document outlining his vision for the Ordinary Jubilee of the Year 2025, Spes Non Confundit, Pope Francis wrote, “The Jubilee churches can serve as oases of spirituality and places of rest on the pilgrimage of faith, where we can drink from the wellsprings of hope.”

At the beginning of the Holy Year, Bishop Rhoades designated nine Jubilee churches in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend. During the Jubilee Year of Hope, the faithful are invited to visit and spend time in these churches where they can receive a special plenary indulgence. He also invited them to attend the special Jubilee Masses, which he will celebrate throughout the year.

“I am really looking forward to celebrating the Jubilee Masses throughout the diocese in the coming weeks,” said Bishop Rhoades. “They are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our common hope in Christ and to be renewed in the virtue of Christian hope that gives inward direction and purpose to our lives. These Jubilee Masses remind us that we are pilgrims of hope on this earth and called to spread our hope to all who anxiously seek it in the world today.”

Beginning tonight, Wednesday, August 13, at 6:30 p.m., Bishop Rhoades will celebrate one of eight scheduled Jubilee Masses.
