The Indiana State Police have been requested to investigate an officer involved shooting that stemmed from a traffic stop on Saturday morning, June 28, 2025, at about 8:30am.

The Indiana State Police are Investigating an Officer Involved Shooting Involving a New Haven Police Officer
New Haven, Indiana (June 30, 2025) – The Indiana State Police have been requested to investigate an officer involved shooting that stemmed from a traffic stop on Saturday morning, June 28 at about 8:30am. The preliminary investigation shows a New Haven Police Department Officer attempted to make a traffic stop near Maplecrest Rd and SR930 when the suspect fired a weapon out of their car towards the New Haven Officer. The New Haven Officer then returned fire, but did not strike the suspect. The suspect fled the scene and a pursuit began. The suspect was later taken into custody after a successful Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) performed by an Indiana State Police Trooper. There were no injuries as a result of the shooting, pursuit or PIT maneuver.
The suspect was arrested by New Haven Police Department. All questions relating to their policy, investigation, criminal charges and the arrested person should be directed to New Haven PD.
Currently, the Indiana State Police does not have any further information available to release. This is an ongoing investigation and once complete, will be turned over to the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
