FWFD: Building Fire, 618 South Calhoun Street

On June 12, 2025, at 1237 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to Markey Bonding, at 618 South Calhoun Street, on the report of a building fire.

Time of Alarm: 1237 hours
On Scene: 1341 hours
Under Control: 1339 hours

FWFD Engine 1 arrived on scene and found an ongoing Police incident going on as well. Crews entered the structure and found a light haze of smoke throughout the three floors of the building as well as the basement. FWFD had all employees evacuate the building for safety. Crews worked diligently to find the source of the smoke and finally found a small smoldering fire in the bottom of an old unused elevator shaft.

The fire was extinguished and the building ventilated to remove the smoke. The fire is under investigation at this time.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department was assisted by the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Building Department.
