On June 9, 2025, just before 2000 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire and Police Departments were made aware of a spill at the intersection of Lafayette and East Superior Streets.

Details/Summary:
On Monday June 9th 2025 just before 8 pm the Fort Wayne Fire and Police Departments were made aware of a spill at Lafayette and Superior. What appeared to be cooking oil leaked from a semi-trailer along a single lane from downtown to Lima & Coliseum. The spill caused extremely hazardous driving conditions resulting in several vehicle crashes, including one Motorcycle crash near Clinton & Field leaving the adult male rider with life threatening injuries.
Numerous agencies are currently involved in the containment and clean up of the spill. Lane closures and traffic detours along Lafayette, Spy Run, Clinton and Lima between Superior and Coliseum will be expected for the next several hours.
The Motocycle Crash remains under investigation with the Fort Wayne Police Fatal Crash Team. The spill and associated cleanup effort will be coordinated and investigated by Indiana Department of Transportation.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
