FWPD: Dogs rescued from fire, 3700 block Hanna Street

On June 4, 2025, at 0025 hours, Fort Wayne Police officers responded to a reported fire in the 3700 block of Hanna Street and observed a detached garage fully engulfed in flames that was spreading to nearby structures.

Details/Summary:

On Wednesday, June 4th 2025 at roughly 12:25 am a structure fire was reported in the area of 3700 S. Hanna St. Fort Wayne Police Department Officers responded to the fire and observed a detached garage fully engulfed in flames that was spreading to nearby structures!

Officers Diaz, Williams, and Bell arrived on the scene and took immediate action and began to evacuate the surrounding homes for safety. During the evacuation, Officers noticed a dog kennel on fire with dogs inside. The kennel was locked. Officers had to force the kennel open to save the dogs from the fire, at risk to their own safety.
