Allen County Commissioners statement regarding Pike’s Pub incident

The Allen County Board of Commissioners issued a statement at today’s press conference held by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department regarding updates on the Pike’s Pub incident on May 30, 2025.

“This weekend, an act of violence occurred in Allen County that has deeply shaken our community – and rightfully so. We recognize this was an attack on one person who deserves our support. It was also an attack on the values we hold as a county: mutual respect, safety, and human dignity.

As the Allen County Board of Commissioners, we want the public to know that we are fully aligned with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department in their investigation. We’ve been in direct communication with Sheriff Hershberger and his leadership team, and we have full confidence in their professionalism, integrity, and commitment to justice.

We also recognize and appreciate the involvement of the FBI. Their collaboration brings added resources and expertise to this serious matter. Together, these agencies are working to ensure a complete and impartial investigation.

Violence and hate have no place here. And this behavior will not be condoned – by law enforcement, by county government, or by the people we serve. Allen County is a diverse and resilient community. Let this be a moment that brings us together and strengthens our common values.”

The Commissioners encourage anyone who witnessed the incident on Friday, May 30, 2025, or anyone who has information to come forward.
