Several projects led by the City of Fort Wayne’s Right-of-Way Department received preliminary approval at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.

City’s commitment to neighborhood infrastructure continues with several right of way related projects advancing at City Council
Fort Wayne, Indiana (March 4, 2025) – Fort Wayne’s investment in neighborhood infrastructure improvements continues with several projects led by the City of Fort Wayne’s Right of Way Department receiving preliminary approval at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.
- Barrett Law Cost Share Package to improve sidewalks – Not to exceed $650,000.
- Right of Way Miscellaneous Package – Not to exceed $1.5 million.
- Concrete Curb Package – Not to exceed $500,000.
- Sidewalk Trip Hazard Elimination Package – Not to exceed $400,000.
- ADA Curb Ramp Package – Not to exceed $500,000.
- Guardrail and Attenuator Package – Not to exceed $250,000.
- Tree Removal Package – Not to exceed $200,000.
In addition to the right of way projects, the Oakhurst Neighborhood Concrete Street Repairs project is moving forward as well – $1.768 million.
All time frames on the projects are weather dependent but it’s anticipated that each project will be completed this year.
“By working together with Mayor Sharon Tucker and City Council, the Public Works Division is able to make significant upgrades in neighborhoods throughout all of Fort Wayne,” said Shan Gunawardena, Public Works Director for the City of Fort Wayne. “The most recent approvals at the Committee Session phase are a win for residents and neighborhoods as we advance projects that will make a meaningful difference in our community.”
City Council is expected to give final approval on the projects next week.
