The safety and well-being of children is always a priority for the Fort Wayne Police Department. Whenever children have injuries and/or medical issues that are considered serious or life-threatening by medical professionals and the cause is unknown, established protocols are followed. These protocols help in the determination if the child’s condition was a result of an accident, intentionally inflicted, or a medical issue.

At this time the investigation has led investigators to believe the initial condition of the infant was related to a medical issue. The infant has shown improvement, and their condition is no longer lifethreatening. The FWPD will continue following its established protocols through the conclusion of the investigation.
