The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a shooting incident which occurred tonight, Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at approximately 6:32PM, leaving one person deceased. FWPD had received reports of shots fired near the intersection of W Fourth St and Wells St. Then, shortly thereafter, were dispatched to the 1600 block of Wells St. Upon arrival, officers located a male, adult suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Fort Wayne Firefighters and TRAA Medics were cleared to make the scene, where they rendered aid, before pronouncing the male deceased.
A page was then initiated for FWPD Homicide Detectives, ASU(Aerial Support Unit), Crime Scene Investigators and the Coroner’s Office. Personnel on scene are using all resources available to investigate this incident. This incident remains under investigation by the FWPD, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Coroner’s office.
