On August 27, 2023, at 1100 hours, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department were patrolling the area of Paulding Road and Winter Street when they observed a stolen Black Kia Soul traveling westbound on Paulding Road.

Details/Summary:
On Sunday August 27th 2023 at approximately 1100 am Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department were patrolling the area of Paulding and Winter when they observed a stolen Black Kia Soul traveling west bound on Paulding. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and the driver failed to yield, leading officers on a pursuit. The vehicle Pursuit lasted approximately 15 minutes, during which time the suspect driver drove into oncoming traffic, through yards and reach speeds in excess of 75 mph in dense urban and residential areas. The vehicle then crashed near Guilford [sic.] Dr and Drake Dr and the 4 occupants attempted to flee on foot. All 4 were apprehended.
During the course of this pursuit, actions of the suspect caused officers to discharge their service weapon at the suspect vehicle. No suspects, officers or civilians were injured during this incident.
This incident remains under investigation with the Fort Wayne Police Dept and Allen County Prosecutors Office. Further details regarding the incident will be release at a later date as the investigation continues.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
