On June 8, 2023, at 0448 hours, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident at the intersection of North Clinton and Grove Streets.

Details/Summary:

On June 8, 2023, at 4:48am, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash at the intersection of N. Clinton St. and Grove St. Officers arrived and located an adult male pedestrian who had been struck by a car. This male was transported to a local hospital in serious condition where he was downgraded to life-threatening condition by hospital staff.

Initial information indicates a vehicle was traveling northbound on N. Clinton St. and as the driver approached the intersection with Grove St., the driver’s vehicle struck the adult male pedestrian who was in the roadway. The driver immediately called 911. There were no other vehicles or persons involved.

The Fort Wayne Police Department’s crash investigation unit is currently processing the scene, taking measurements and collecting evidence to determine what happened. The northbound right lane remains closed while the investigation takes place.

There is nothing further at this time.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
