On May 5, 2023, at 4:59pm the Fort Wayne Police Department received a report of an injury accident in the 4600 block of Covington Rd. Officers arrived and located two vehicles, each with a solo adult male occupant. One adult male was taken to a local hospital in life-threatening condition, and the other adult male was taken to a local hospital in non-life-threatening condition.
Initial information indicates the driver who is in non-life-threatening condition was driving eastbound on Covington Rd. at a high rate of speed, lost control, went into the other lane and collided head-on with the other-involved vehicle that was traveling westbound on Covington Rd, leaving this driver in life-threatening condition.
FWPD crash investigators, with the assistance of the Air Support Unit, are currently processing the scene, taking measurements and collecting evidence to determine exactly what happened. Both drivers remain at a local hospital in their respective conditions.
Covington Rd. will remain closed for a couple of hours.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department FACT team and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office./blockquote>
