Allen County offices will close on Wednesday due to weather

Today, the Allen County Board of Commissioners announced that offices in all county buildings under its control will be closed on Wednesday in the wake of anticipated severe winter weather.

Decision on Thursday pending

Fort Wayne, Indiana (February 1, 2022) — The Allen County Board of Commissioners today announced that offices in all county buildings under its control will be closed on Wednesday in the wake of anticipated severe winter weather.

The commissioners also said a decision on whether those offices will reopen on Thursday will be made after an assessment of conditions is made by midday tomorrow.

Allen Circuit and Superior Court offices in the Allen County Courthouse will also be closed on Wednesday. The Allen County Department of Health public COVID testing site at 5750 Falls Drive will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, with plans to reopen Friday if weather permits.

Allen County is under a Winter Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service starting at 5 a.m. Wednesday through 7 p.m. Thursday. The storm is expected to produce snowfall totals of 10-15 inches from tonight through Thursday. Strong northeast winds will cause blowing snow and reduced visibilities at times on Thursday.
