FWFD: House Fire, West Dewald Street

Fort Wayne, Indiana (September 22, 2021) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a possible house fire in the 400 block of Dewald Street at 6:15 am.

Firefighters made entry into the structure finding an active fire in the basement ceiling. The fire had spread into the baseboards and flooring of the first floor. Fire was also found in the first floor walls but crews opened up the walls and flooring to stop the fire from spreading further throughout the house.

Investigators are checking the scene for the cause of the fire.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department was assisted by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, the City of Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code Enforcement, NIPSCO, and Indiana Michigan Power.
