Statement from the Office of the Mayor of the City of Fort Wayne regarding Mayor Tom Henry’s return to the office.
Fort Wayne, Indiana (August 23, 2021) – Mayor Tom Henry’s office today announced that Mayor Henry is returning to the office for a light schedule this week. Last week, Mayor Henry announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19 following a few days of on and off fatigue which ultimately led to his testing. Mayor Henry is fully vaccinated and experienced mild symptoms. Mayor Henry credits the vaccine for a quick recovery.
Mayor Henry has completed his required 10-day isolation period which started on the first day his symptoms started. In addition, his symptoms have improved which is the other requirement to leave isolation and return to normal activities. The local health leaders Mayor Henry consulted with agreed Mayor Henry had met the 10-day isolation requirements as well as the needed symptom resolution and is now able to return to work.
Cindy Henry, Mayor Henry’s wife, also tested positive for COVID-19 last week. Mrs. Henry is fully vaccinated and is experiencing mild symptoms. Mayor and Mrs. Henry encourage individuals to get vaccinated.
Mayor Henry would like to thank the public for the outpouring of support that he and Cindy have received over the past several days.
