Extended stretch of high heat and humidity next weekFort Wayne, Indiana (July 23, 2021) – The weekend and the first half of next week will be defined by two words: hot and humid. Humidity levels will be on the rise heading into this weekend, reaching tropical levels, which will make it feel very uncomfortable outside. In addition, heat will be on the rise. We haven’t seen 90s very often this summer, but we have multiple chances in the coming days to reach 90 or above. Over the weekend and into next week, afternoon high temperatures will reach into the upper 80s to low 90s, with heat index values pushing into mid to upper 90s. We do have a slight chance for scattered showers and storms on both days this weekend. Then, high pressure moves in to start the work week, leaving us with dry and sunny conditions. Heat is one of the leading weather-related causes of death in the United States. With it being so hot over the coming days, it will be very important to limit outdoor activities, take frequent water breaks, and be on the lookout for signs of heat exhaustion/heat stroke.
