On June 11th, 2021 shortly after midnight FWPD Officers responded to a two vehicle accident, party injured at Jefferson Blvd. and Engle Rd. Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of vehicle 1 was traveling west on Jefferson Blvd. at a high rate of speed and possibly ran the light at Jefferson/Engle and collided with vehicle 2 that was traveling south on Engle Rd.
The driver of vehicle 2 (adult female) was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics. The driver of vehicle 1 (adult male) was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. It is believed that speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the accident. A blood draw and toxicology analysis will be performed on driver 1 of the accident, which is standard procedure for all fatal accidents.
This incident remains under investigation by the FWPD F.A.C.T team (fatal accident crash team), Allen County Coroners and Prosecutors Offices.
