FWFD: House fire, Forest View Drive

house fire

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 6800 block of Forest View Drive on May 25, 2021, at 8:42 am.

The fire was reported by at least two neighbors who called 9-1-1 to report smoke coming from a house. The first fire engine arrived five minutes later to find fire and smoke visible from a front, second-floor bedroom window. The homeowner had arrived home between the 9-1-1 calls and the FWFD’s arrival. He told the first firefighters on the scene that no one was inside.

Firefighters quickly advanced up the stairs to extinguish the fire and check for fire extension into the attic. Other crews confirmed the home was unoccupied and addressed the utilities. At 9:10 am, the fire was called under control.

The cause was determined to be an accident caused by an unattended candle.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department was assisted by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, NIPSCO, Indiana Michigan Power, and City of Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code Enforcement.
