FWFD: House fire, High Street

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported house fire in the 1700 block of High Street at 8:01 pm April 11, 2021.

The first arriving crews found heavy fire showing on the first floor and front porch. The fire was spreading to the home’s exterior from out of a first-floor window and from the porch roof. Firefighters advanced a hose line inside the structure for fire control. They also conducted a search of all three levels of the home and found one pet on the first floor and gave oxygen to the pet outside the structure which was later reunited with the owner.

Firefighters were able to control the blaze in under twenty minutes. The home suffered extensive fire, water, and smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Fort Wayne Fire Investigators.

The firefighters were assisted by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, Indiana Michigan Power, NIPSCO, and City of Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code Enforcement.
