The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 11:18 pm on March 29, 2021, in the 1100 block of Third Street. The first fire engine arrived and extinguished a fire on an outside wall that had spread into the second-floor interior.
Four occupants were alerted by a smoke detector and escaped safely. Firefighters located three surviving family pets while searching the home for victims. No injuries occurred at this incident and the cause remains under investigation.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department was assisted by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, City of Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code Enforcement, Indiana and Michigan Power, and NIPSCO.
