House fire on Oliver Street
FORT WAYNE, INDIANA (January 8, 2020) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 4:54 pm in the 4800 block of Oliver Street in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The first arriving crews observed a fire inside the house and blowing out a kitchen window. Crews advanced hose lines inside the structure for fire control and searched for a family pet that was reported missing. Fire crews were able to locate the family pet and reunite it with its owners.
Firefighters were able to control the blaze in under twenty minutes. The home suffered extensive fire, smoke, and water damage. Fire investigators determined that the cause of the fire was an accidental cooking fire.
Firefighters were assisted by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, Indiana Michigan Power, NIPSCO, and City of Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code Enforcement.
