On January 7, 2021, at 0355 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department was dispatched to the area of I-469 and I-69 in reference to a vehicle accident with injuries.

Details/Summary:
On Thursday, 01/07/2021, at approximately 3:55 AM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department were dispatched to the area of I-469 and I-69 reference a vehicle crash with injuries. Officers located the crash on the westbound I-469 ramp leading to southbound I-69 at the 31 mile marker for I-469. The male/adult driver and female/adult front seat passenger were both pronounced deceased at the scene. The two victims were the sole occupants of the vehicle.
Preliminary information indicates the vehicle was traveling westbound on the I-469 ramp preparing to go southbound onto I-69. The vehicle left the roadway and flipped at least once before coming to rest on its top. Investigators reported speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash.
Travel lanes on the ramp with be restricted while Investigators process the scene. One lane on the ramp will remain open to traffic for the morning commute.
This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victims.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
