Apartment fire, Griswold Drive

(December 3, 2020) – Fort Wayne Firefighters responded to a reported apartment fire at 1823 Griswold Drive. First arriving units found smoke on the second and third floor of the building and a small fire in the living room of apartment H.

While firefighters were working to contain the blaze, members from Truck 1 found and rescued an unconscious male occupant. The occupant was evacuated to the yard where other Firefighters were waiting with medical equipment to provide care. The occupant was provided first aid and then transported to a local hospital emergency room by TRAA Paramedics.

The fire was contained to the room of origin and there was moderate smoke and water damage.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Firefighters were assisted by FWPD, TRAA and NCE.
