
On November 7, 2020, at 1228 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire with possible trapped person, in the 1600 block of East Fairfax Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

On Scene: 1231 hours
Under Control: 1246 hours
Firefighters arrived to find light smoke issuing from the front door. Two crews entered structure to search for occupants and locate the fire. A fire was found in the upstairs bedroom and extinguished quickly. Heavy black smoke confronted crews but a thorough search revealed no victims. The sole occupant at the time of the fire had exited the structure on their own after smelling smoke.
The fire was deemed accidental in nature and was started by a portable heater to close to flammables.
