Neighborhood Health Celebrating National Health Center Week

(August 10, 2020) — Neighborhood Health will join more than 1,400 fellow health centers across the country in honor of National Health Center Week, taking place August 9-15. The organization will offer a patient appreciation event with free Kona Ice on August 12th at both of their Fort Wayne locations. Given the health risks associated with COVID-19, all necessary precautions against COVID-19 will be encouraged, including use of masks and social distancing, and the events will be for patients and staff members only.

National Health Center Week is an annual celebration to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers – which collectively serve approximately 30 million patients each year – over the past five decades. This year’s theme is “Community Health Centers: Lighting the Way for Healthier Communities Today and in the future.”

The details for this local event are:

Calhoun location

– 1717 S. Calhoun St., Fort Wayne, IN, 46802
– Available from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. located in WIC parking lot on Wallace Street

Southeast location

– 3350 E. Paulding Road, Fort Wayne, IN, 46816
– Available from 2 – 4:30 p.m. in parking lot

“This year’s National Community Health Center Weeks is a little different because of the pandemic,” explains Angie Zaegel, CEO of Neighborhood Health. “At the same time, the pandemic emphasizes how the work of Neighborhood Health and community health centers around the country is more important than ever. And we want to make sure our team members know how much we appreciate their tireless efforts, dedication and service on behalf of our patients in the face of this pandemic.”
