Fatal Shooting Investigation

Time: 2:55 a.m.
Location: 500 block of McKinnie Avenue
Victim(s): Adult Male (Deceased) 2 Adult Males (Non-Life Threatening Injuries)
Suspect(s): None at this time
On May 31, 2020, shortly before 3:00 Am Officers of the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the 500 blk of McKinnie Avenue. Officers were advised on the initial call that there was a subject that had been shot at this location. Prior to officers arriving on the scene, they were advised that there was possibly a second victim that had been shot at the same location.
Upon their arrival on the scene, officers advised that they had 2 victims at this location. 1 Adult Male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound with life-threatening injuries and 1 Adult Male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound with non-life-threatening injuries.
While still on scene officers were advised that a 3rd victim, an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound had driven himself to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers were also advised that the victim with life-threatening injuries had been pronounced deceased by paramedics.
The Fort Wayne Police Homicide Division as well as Crime Scene Technicians were paged to the scene to speak with any possible witnesses as well as process the scene for any possible evidence that would assist Detectives in establishing a sequence of events as well as any possible suspects involved in this incident.
The Identity of the victim will be released at a later time by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
Agencies assisting in this Investigation were the Fort Wayne Fire Department and the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority.
It should also be noted that during this investigation a portion of McKinnie Avenue was closed as Officers and Detectives were investigating this incident.
