Details:
On March 21, 2020, at 3:51am, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a home in the 7300 block of Capri Dr. regarding an adult female who was armed with a gun and making threats of suicide. Officers began trying to communicate with the female, hoping to have her exit the home so she could be taken to a hospital.
The Crisis Response Team and the Emergency Services Team were requested due to their enhanced capabilities to respond to a person in crisis. Members of these teams tried for several hours to communicate with the female with no success.
Shortly after 8:00am, officers entered the residence hoping to provide aid to the female, but the officers discovered that the female was deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Per protocol, this incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Coroner’s Office, who will determine the exact cause and manner of death.
There is nothing further at this time.
