A news release from the Fort Wayne Fire Department:
Residential House Fire, South Barr Street
(February 6, 2020) – Fort Wayne Fire Department crews were dispatched to a single family home in the 3300 block of South Barr Street this evening. Upon arrival, firefighters found a one story home with smoke pushing from all sides of the structure and all occupants outside. Crews entered the home to extinguish the fire and search for any possible survivors.
The fire was under control within 10 minutes.
After checking with the occupants, one person stated that they had suffered a very small burn, but refused to be seen by medical personel on the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Crews remained on scene to extinguish hot spots and coordinate efforts with other agencies.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department was assisted by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Indiana Michigan Power, NIPSCO, the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, and Neighborhood Code Enforcement.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
