Fort Wayne, Indiana (March 28, 2019) — The Fort Wayne TinCaps and Federated Media have extended their long-running partnership that includes broadcasting TinCaps games on ESPN Radio 1380 & 100.9 FM (WKJG) for the next five years through the 2023 season. The team’s games have aired on WKJG since the franchise was founded in 1993 as the Fort Wayne Wizards.

“As Fort Wayne’s home for local sports—from the high school level to college up to the pros—we’re proud to be the flagship station for TinCaps baseball,” said Mike Ragz, Program Director for ESPN Radio 1380 & 100.9 FM.

All 140 TinCaps games can be heard not only on ESPN Radio 1380 & 100.9 FM, but also via the TuneIn app and TinCapsRadio.com.

“We’re glad to be able to bring fans the excitement and fun of TinCaps baseball each and every game, whether at Parkview Field or elsewhere around the Midwest League,” said Michael Limmer, TinCaps Vice President for Marketing. “We’re grateful that Federated Media helps us maintain our presence on local radio.”

John Nolan returns this season for his seventh with the organization and fifth as the team’s lead play-by-play broadcaster. Nolan will again broadcast the TinCaps’ road schedule on radio and home games on TV. Meanwhile, for games at Parkview Field, Mike Maahs is back for his 18th year with the team as a radio broadcaster. New to the crew this year is Evan Stockton, a 23-year-old from the Detroit area who graduated from Syracuse University in 2018. Stockton has previously called games for the Auburn Doubledays (Washington Nationals Short-Season A affiliate) and the Chatham Anglers (Cape Cod Baseball League), as well as at Western Michigan University. Cory Stace, who was a member of the TinCaps’ broadcast team in 2018, remains with the club full-time as Digital Content Manager.

In addition to TinCaps coverage, espnfortwayne.com will also continue as the audio home of the Parkview Sports Medicine High School Baseball Series this spring.

ESPN Radio 1380 & 100.9 FM is one of six Federated Media radio stations in Fort Wayne, along with WOWO 1190 AM & 107.5 FM, K105 FM, 97.3 WMEE, 98.9 The Bear, and BIG 92.3. Over the years, the TinCaps and Federated Media have also partnered to host numerous concerts at Parkview Field, including Jake Owen in August 2018.

The TinCaps are set to open their 2019 season on Thursday, April 4 (7:05 p.m.) against the Lansing Lugnuts (Toronto Blue Jays affiliate) at Parkview Field. The Hupe Insurance Services Pregame Show kicks off coverage at 6:45 p.m. Prior to that, “The Sports Rush with Brett Rump” will be live at the ballpark from 4-6 p.m.

All TinCaps home games are also broadcast on Comcast Network 81 and MiLB.TV.
