On February 2, 2019, at 2037 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 4400 block of Gaywood Drive at Senate Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana, in reference to a shooting.

Details/Summary:
On February 2, 2019 shortly after 8:30 pm Officers of the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 4400 Block of Gaywood at the corner of Gaywood and Senate in reference to a reported shooting.
Officers were advised that the witnesses in the area reported hearing multiple shots being fired. Witnesses also advised Police that there was a victim laying on the ground at the corner of Gaywood and Senate.
Upon Officers arrival they located an adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Paramedics arrived on scene and began medical care to the victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital in Critical Condition. A short time later after arriving at the hospital Emergency Room Doctors pronounced the victim deceased.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians were called to the scene. Upon their arrival Detectives began to canvass the area speaking with possible witnesses that may have heard or seen anything that would assist them with this incident. Crime Scene Technicians arrived and began to process the scene for any possible evidence associated with the incident.

The Identity of the victim as well as the cause and manner of death will be released at a later time by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
