Germanfest Bier Tent opens today – 6/6/2018


The Fort Wayne Germanfest Bier Tent officially opens today at Headwaters Park East, under the Lincoln Financial Pavilion.

Activities for today, June 6, 2018:
10:30am to 11pm – Germanfest Bier Tent Open
Headwaters Park Festival Plaza

Germanfest Bier Tent at Headwaters Park.

Admission: $2 from 2pm to – 5pm; $5 after 5pm
Minors must be accompanied by an adult
No one under 21 permitted after 9:30pm
Military personnel with I.D. admitted Free of charge

 

11:00am Official Bier Tent Opening and Keg Tapping Ceremony

It’s Wunderbar! Celebrate the 37th anniversary of Germanfest as they invite local and visiting dignitaries, sponsors and the public to participate in the traditional opening ceremony and the tapping of the first keg at 11:00am.
Attend the ceremonies, enjoy the music, and dine on the fine German food (the traditional brats, hot off the grill, homemade sauerkraut, potato salad, Schnitzel, Oktoberfest Roast Chicken, freshly baked pretzels, and don’t forget the kuchen (German cake) for dessert!

 

11:30am to 3:30pm – Jay Fox Bavarian Band from Fort Wayne, Indiana

12:00pm – City-wide “Chicken Dance”

Wherever you are… 101.7 WLDE kicks off Germanfest with a city-wide “chicken dance”!!!!
Wherever you are at noon today, be sure your radio is set to 101.7 WLDE so you, your co-workers, your students, family, and friends can all do a simultaneous chicken dance. 101.7 WLDE will be broadcasting live from the Germanfest Bier Tent at Headwaters Park. Then, we’ll follow with what might be the world’s largest chicken dance led by the Money Monkey!!! Listen to 101.7 WLDE for all the fun!

 

12:15 to 12:45pm – Organ Concert
First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, 300 East Wayne
Free admission

1:00pm – Ferkel Wurst Stuffin’ (Piglet Sausage Stuffing game)
Headwaters Park – Bier Tent Main Stage

Participation is FREE!
Sign up at the Information Booth at the festival entrance. Three teams of two players each compete against each other and the clock to see who can stuff the most “sausages” full of pink, plush toy piglets. All participants win prizes!
1st game for ages 6 to 8 years
2nd game for 9 to 12 years
3rd game for the grown-ups
Sign up at the Information Booth or be at the main stage at the designated times to test your sausage stuffin’ skills!

 


3:45pm to 7:45pm – Joey Tomsick and the Shotskis from Cleveland, Ohio

The kids run and the 5K starts at Lawton Park, north of Headwaters Park at Clinton and Fourth streets.
