Details/Summary:
On Thursday, 12/28/2017, at approximately 7:37 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 1800 block of West Jefferson Blvd. reference a vehicle crash with injuries. Initial reports indicated two vehicles were involved and one of the drivers was pinned inside their vehicle. Officers arrived on scene and observed there were two vehicles involved and each driver was the sole occupant of each vehicle. The adult/female driver that was pinned inside her vehicle was unconscious and unresponsive. The Fort Wayne Fire Department had to extricate the female from the vehicle and she was transported to local hospital in critical condition. The male/adult driver of the other vehicle had a complaint of pain and was transported to a local hospital in good condition.
Preliminary reports indicate one of the vehicles was traveling westbound on West Jefferson Blvd. and crossed the center line. The vehicle traveling eastbound was unable to avoid colliding with the vehicle after it crossed the center line. Investigators said it does not appear alcohol or drugs were contributing factors in the crash. They reported it does appear weather related road conditions were a contributing factor in the crash.
Eastbound Jefferson Blvd. is closed to all traffic between Main Street and Swinney Park. Westbound Jefferson Blvd. is restricted to one lane between Main Street and Swinney Park. Traffic will be restricted while Investigators process the scene. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
